The GCP is a cross functional course given within the curriculum of the Wharton M.B.A. program. Established in 1978, this unique program pairs teams of Wharton M.B.A. students and faculty with teams from partner universities (in Chile, China, Colombia, India, Israel, Peru, Spain, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates with pilot projects in Africa) to consult with a client company (either profit making or non-profit social impact) interested in entering or expanding its position in the U.S. market, or somehow leveraging a relationship with North America. The mission of the program is two-fold: to provide exceptional learning value to the students and innovative, operational plans which add value to clients.

Each year the GCP holds a Devil’s Advocate session early in the spring semester. The goal of the session is for a professional audience to provide each consulting team constructive feedback on its project work at a stage early enough that responses can be incorporated into the final project.

During its one-hour session, the team makes a 20-minute presentation on their project definition and the methodology it is using to address its problem. The team also provides its preliminary thoughts on the final deliverables that the team will present to the client. The students from the partner schools participate via video or teleconference from their respective countries.

The audience is comprised of a group of interested alumni and friends of GCP and faculty from Wharton who are not necessarily faculty of the GCP. Each audience member signs a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and provides constructive feedback during the remainder of the session. I know how much Steve has enjoyed his participation in the GCP process and supporting our MBA teams over the years so I wanted to extend an invitation to you and the Mid Atlantic Consultants Network to participate!
